I like to host thanksgiving every year because I’m the one w a kid in my nuclear family and my mom’s done cooking for life lol. She hosted many a party in the first 25 years of her marriage and she’s just done. My parents are vegetarians but my daughter and husband are not. So we usually do a feast of decadent American sides plus whatever Indian dish and samosas my mom brings over. This year she brought chick pea curry and fry bread (bhatura) over and I ate it so fast I didn’t even get a picture. I also made a giant spread of goodness and didn’t get a picture before the meal 😂 but I did grab a pic of the leftovers. Super colorful. So good.
I couldn’t grab any turkey breast tenderloins this year mostly because I’ve worked soooo much more this year and just didn’t have it in me to go out of my way to bat my eyelashes at the guys in the meat department at my local weis or shoppers to get some packaged up for me (why is it such an exclusive thing?!?). I chose convenience and decided to order my grocery online this year. Walmart’s amazing free pickup service is my go to when I’m in a pinch. Which is a lot of the time. Before the secret got out- I was able to snag groceries same day or next day but lately I’ve had to even wait a couple of days which is crazy! I’m just very thankful that I have two pickup locations in my area and that I was able to get next day pickup.
Anyway, beggars can’t be choosers and I got stuck w my online turkey options – a ginormous turkey breast or a “tiny” (5 lb – 8 lb) turkey breast. I went with the “tiny” guy – either way it was a lot bigger than I’ve ever cooked before. I handled my shit and made my baby girl her annual turkey meal and it was amazing.
Here are some snap shots of the day!
My appetizer actually was documented before it was eaten:
I chopped up firm plum tomatoes and tossed them w some basil paste, mozzarella pearls, extra virgin olive oil, salt/pepper, and garlic. So simple. So good. That little salad was served on avocado toast that I made w Italian bread because again beggars can’t be choosers and Walmart was out of baguette bread lmao.
here we are. The sisters. She’s recently reversed roles and has pastel hair and I’m rocking a natural mane (there’s a reason but I’m keeping my mouth shut til I’m ready to reveal it to you guys!). I had so much fun playing w silvers, charcoals, purples, blushes, icy baby blue, and anything in between. I’ll do a separate post just w hair selfies by the way. Don’t you guys worry.
Here’s my kid buried in presents. Thanks gramma and pop.
All in all it was a good day. My family needs to work on being punctual but I’m not sure why I expect them to show up on time when they’re always late. Every year lol. Until next time ❤️ thanks for reading!!
